Insane stuff for the phenom, so excited to see him at worlds. His coach seems to be a great guy.
The amount of mixed pace work he does in workouts, at least from what we've seen, is very interesting (in a good way). He's been doing essentially mile-pace or slower work the entire season, in addition to the faster stuff during the same workout.
I think at this point in the season many coaches would switch to nearly entirely anaerobic stuff, something like 4x300 at 800 pace followed by 3x150 fast, with none of the slower stuff. I guess in this case it was mostly fatigue him, but it shows that he is at least keeping in touch with that energy system outside of easy runs.
I think one mistake I made when beginning to coach the 800 was not staying in touch with aerobic work late into the season, even with 400/800 type runners. Glad to see that isn't a mistake that is being made here.
Goal seems to be to run a fast 200 from a slightly fatigued state. A distance analogue might be running a mile between mile and 5k race pace after a tempo.

What is up with this rep 25s comments? its the internet?
Like jesus christ I ran D3 and everyone pretty much could run a 25/26 for reps----he ran 1:42 its not impressive at all. Hell i dont even run anymore and lift and still hit the track 1x a month and still run 24/25 and im 190lbs. What idiots think 25 is fast at all?
its a good workout for turnover and he did a good amount of 25s, but 25 is not fffing fast.
Stop saying "its the internet" for a 25 second 200m. That said, i forget how many slow runners who run a 17min 5k can barely run a 29 second 200m, so i guess for some its hard, but those guys alwasy have buddies who run 24-25 easy for reps....so whoever keeps acting like 25 is pissing me off. Stop being weird.
I dont even run, and couldnt run the 2:01 now but i could still do that 200m workout part and i drink beer everyday and only lift.
Not insane. I could have done that with less rest between sets. But 23.0 on the last 200? NFW!
You can rep 25s?
I'm 195lbs and havent ran in 5months and I will go video tape myself running 3x 25 reps with 1min rest. its not hard. Hell i can still run 56 second 400m with no training cuz i do squats and hit the bench and pullups hard. Sprinting that short is just a function of power to weight ratio. When i saw his workout i thought 'oh a nice easy workout; this website is a joke sometimes
