If those are the options, let’s pray she picks Florida
Florida is not a bad choice but Arkansas makes the most sense for a 400/800 runner who also does the 400 hurdles.
Duke also gives you good coaching and training partners at those events, and with the benefit of not having to learn that the earth is 10,000 years old.

What does the age of the earth have to do with choosing a track team?

it has to do with track maybe not working out as a career in the future and having a degree thats worth more than the paper it's on.

I'm not sure how into academics Natalie Dumas is. She keeps claiming she's bad at school but maybe that's just a joke she likes to tell.
She did say in a recent interview she wants to go to a college that will help her get into the Olympics. Arkansas student athletes got 7 track and field medals at the 2024 Olympics which is pretty darn good.

I didn't know that. If she's not very bright then Arkansas is probably a perfect school for her.

If She is Considering Vanderbilt and Duke She is VERY Smart, Those Schools are not Ivy League But like The Service Academies They are close To Ivy League Academically. You do not go To those Schools if your IQ is not OVER 130
For athletes, very few New Jerseyans see much upside to Rutgers. It's tough for coaches in all sports to recruit there.
Yes, clearly Vanderbilt and Duke jump out for academics. However, both these schools are now quite aggressive in the 'pay for play' game and recently lowered their admission standards to be more competitive in SEC sports. (and bot lose that SEC/ACC football/hoops gravy train)
Will be interesting to see her final choice, in her case she is among rare track athletes where there will be a bit of a bidding war.
Posters are right who suggest Arkansas, but also keep in mind Arkansas also has a rep for running these kids into the ground, ie Britton Wilson.
Still, all considered my best guess is she will pick Ark.

What happened with Britton Wilson was that she got injured in spring 2023 and insisted she wanted to keep running. The coaches for some dumb reason let her. That was a big mistake. However, it wasn't like they forced to her run.
In any case, I think the Arkansas coaches have learned their lesson and they won't make the same mistake with Natalie Dumas. If an athlete is injured they need to rest and recover even if the athlete doesn't want to.
word is USC came into the mix a little later after her announcement. I’m close friends with her coach, and he shared that once she saw USC step in, everything changed. Despite being a late addition, USC jumped right up to one of her top two choices.

Will she run all 4 years in college or go pro early

What do you mean "a little later after her announcement"? She just made this announcement a few hours ago. And USC was already in "the mix."
In any case, I don't see USC beating out Arkansas.

That sounds like the right choice to me. While Arkansas has developed the 400/800 runners I shudder to think how many races they might have her run in pursuit of team titles. And I suspect few choose Arkansas for the academics.
