Best overall Ivy?

Go to HYP over the others if you can

If your kid is getting recruited to all of the Ivies, you should be looking at Stanford, Duke, Northwestern, Notre Dame, and a few others that give scholarships. Why spend $400K on a degree if you can get a similar degree for much less money?

I’m not getting recruited to all of them. Stanford, Duke, Notre Dame also all have faster recruits than the Ivies, I’ve compared times. I would look there, but they wouldn’t be interested in me, and it’s too late now as well (I’m a senior now)

You'd probably be the happiest at Brown but it's also the weakest on your list (it's a small difference, and still a great school, but it is a gap). If I were you I'd go Yale - relatively easy academically (compared to Princeton). Not too far from BU either for indoor meets.

Notre Dame and others like it (Michigan, UVA, etc) all good schools but not on the same level

Duke and Northwestern are ranked ahead of 1/2 of the Ivies amd both give scholarships to women. And even though Michigan and Notre Dame are one click below the Ivies, paying $400K for something barely better is a stupid decision.

Princeton or Harvard. Princeton will be more fun, Harvard will be better on your resume.

Come on - the difference between those 2 is so negligible it doesn't matter (or, for that matter, the difference between them, Yale, Stanford, and MIT). I don't think Princeton would be more fun either - it'd be a higher academic workload. Pick the one you like best and you think you'd do best at. It's like the difference between the Alphafly 3 and the Adidas Adizero Adios Pro Evo 2 - people might prefer one over the other, but they both can make a claim to be the best shoe...

None of them. Skip college, it's scam-ish and you will be indoctrinated by the professors living in La La Land. The two richest people I know :), multi-millionaires, either skipped college completely or left after a year. Scratch that, a nice 5 decade 9-5er will be good for you. Harvard it is..........

Do any of the ones I listed have particularly weak programs with lots of injuries/bad coaching? Hard to see when I go visit/speak to the coaches, obviously they don't show it

Why would I believe that an anonymous poster is being recruited by the Ivies. If you are smart enough to be recruited by the Ivies you should be smart enough to not pose that question on a message board and expect knowledgeable answers.

Personally, I’d choose Princeton out of the ones you mentioned. The location is beautiful. There is nice soft surface running. Coach Hunt has done a nice job of developing the ladies. The price tag is brutal with the ivies tho, but if you’re able to pay it or if you are able to get financial aid, good for you.

Like the UPenn coach a lot but there have been a few transfers out and not sure if they’re all able to stay healthy. Great new indoor facility. Easy to fly in and out of Philly.

Dartmouth is beautiful and I do know some girls who have run there and were very happy. A little cold and dark for me from Nov-March. Not sure how easy it is to get in and out of NH if you live far away.

Yale always has me puzzled. Should be better than it is. Great school ofc. Knew a couple of women who went there and never improved, but ofc landed great jobs after.

Don’t know much about Brown’s program. Seems like a totally different student vibe tho so she’d need to see if that’s a fit.

Good luck! Honestly, I’m a big believer that you can have an excellent academic experience out of many places outside the ivies, but if that name brand is important to you, these are my thoughts.

Unfortunately my outlook with Princeton isn't looking too good. They're the strongest program and I am not a top recruit there like I am at the other Ivies.

I also noticed some transfers out of UPenn. One of the girls posted on Instagram saying "UPenn track failed me" and that her health was deteriorating, which is kind of concerning. Does anyone know more of what's going on there?

That's a really good summary from Tigers. You should take some time to go check out the areas, see the campus, imagine if you can see yourself liking it there. I very much like the Penn campus but Philadelphia is a much different place than Hanover. Which vibe are you looking for?

Can I make a weird suggestion and a practical one?

1) Suss out which one has the best academic program/environment for what you're interested in. (Sorry to inject academic considerations into deciding what college to go to--weird, huh?) People thought I was dumb to turn down Caltech and Stanford for a "lesser" Ivy, but it had the best academic program/support for me.

2) Whichever you make your first choice (and it sounds like you're going to have great options--congrats!), apply there early decision/early action. A coach has a limited number of admissions "pushes" that s/he can use, and will use (almost) all of them on prospects who have shown enough commitment to the school to have applied there EA/ED.

you need to figure out what your priorities are. best school? happiest school? best team? team that coaches best? (and those last 2 are not necessarily the same, sometimes a mediocre team is well coached and paddling as fast as they can). pleasant location? we can't tell you what you care about.

if you want to know if the athletes progress, you're supposedly a bright kid, and it's a very short list of schools you present. do your own research and run the numbers for your event. find the kids who do your event. find their HS times on one of the 2 big sites. find their current times on tfrrs. compare to now. then compare the schools to each other in your event.

if you look at rosters year to year you can see how much turnover is happening.

if you want to know if the training plans are nuts or the coach is a jerk, you chat up the team on your visit. the coach might tell you how much they usually run or generally what the concept is, but the kids will tell you if the experience is an ordeal.

last, without your scores and numbers this is just a pot-stirrer thread like the one on NESCAC/Patriot.
