Genuinely curious—is there a worse course among the majors? Because it looks terrible. I don’t know why they didn’t skip all the nonsense at Moore Park and instead come over the bridge, go south toward Bondi, then east along Military Road, come back to the Opera House along New South Head Road. Way way too many 180s in this course.
Instead of picking Valencia, Amsterdam or Rotterdam which is significantly faster and bring in much more history of elite athletes. Sad to see they picked Sydney for world marathon majors.

They were trying to keep the course as flat and fast as possible from my understanding. Unfortunately Sydney is a pretty hilly city. Heading out around Bondi etc is just full of hills so they had to do lots of tight loops etc around the flatter areas to make up the marathon distance.

Another European major would be short sited. The majors are aiming to grow into new markets that will grow and advance the sport and their brand more globally. Decisions are about the future, not the present.

From clips I’ve seen including one from an influencer who recorded herself at every mile, there seemed to be almost no crowd support.
They even have them in Australia? The “Free Palestine” movement has to be the greatest propaganda operation of all time.
But every Palestinians are tired of these “Hobbyists.”
Ahmed Fouad Alkhatib Congratulations to the "pro-Palestine" movement in the US, Europe, and elsewhere. You refused to call out Hamas, celebrated or excused October 7, wanted a ceasefire without the release of hostages whom you demonized and called "prisoners of war", thought your vicious "activism" would win public opinion & force Israel's hands. Two years later, Gaza is worse off than ever before, and it is about to be permanently lost.
You are tools and partners of Netanyahu's vision; you are useful idiots for a fascist terror organization; you are a disgrace - you embarrass me & all sane Palestinians; you embarrass yourselves. Gaza is finished, and so is Palestine - but hey, "from the river to the sea", right? "Zionism is finished", and "long live the resistance", right? Negligent, unintelligent fools.

Have you been to Sydney? I know the city quite well and I would consider it a nice route. Maybe misses the northern beaches but idk how you'd incorporate that without having it primarily outside of the city.
