Anyone feel like it’s impossible to post anything there without getting removed or banned? The mods are absolute Nazis. I was banned for 2 weeks because I posted a link to what I think is an ideal sample training week.
What was the link? Was it mistaken for (or was it) promoting your own site/service?
It was a sample weekly plan that routed to my website so I guess I can see how it could be construed as self promotion although I’m not attempting to sell anything or recruit clients. Probably a violation by the letter but seems touchy. Just going to avoid it from now on.

That's reddit for you. The place on the internet where all the bullied kids go to become moderators to finally have control over their peers.
Yup. They have a rule not to link to your own website, then ban someone for violating that rule.
Must be a power trip. Not only that, but it must also be a sort of power trip that lends itself to your armchair psychoanalysis.
Instead, they should really just do a lot of case-by-case thorough examination of every link that routes to somebody’s personal website. because that’s how they want to spend their time. And then they can pick who gets to stay and who gets to go based on their own subjective judgment. i’m pretty sure that will make everybody happy and there will be no unintended consequences.
you linked to your own site instead of copying and pasting. we all know you were trying to advertise brah. also, there is no ideal week of training brah.
That sub got taken over by force (he petitioned) by one of the mods from r/running several years ago. That’s when the sub became more of the typical pansy reddit circle jerk. I had my run ins with that mod, and I’m sure he reads here. He’s like a 17:59 5k guy who seems to have a lot of rage built up towards the rest of us.

I was there when that subreddit started forever ago. Discussion was good and generally high quality. Then it got filled with novel-lengthed race reports about trying to break four hours for the marathon.

Okay that’s a stupid rule though
so is this idea that people read their novel length “rules” before posting
“err ackshully your post violated rule 3.5(1)(b) straight ban”
it’s an internet form, I don’t even read the whole post let alone a bunch of “rules”

It would be more proper to label them bolsheviks. After all, that’s their political leaning.
Reddit in general is ridiculous. Every community has rules and forms posts must follow. Every community about a given topic is full of stans. Where are these people in real life? You never meet anyone like them.
R/advancedrunning strikes me as a community full of people who never grow past baby's first week on letsrun. R/trackandfield is a little better, but if you want to discuss running I think letsrun is still the best place - mods aren't great but they're no worse than advancedrunning, posters are more knowledgeable.
There is some good to reddit as it allows people to find fans of their niche topics though.

It does feel like there is a lot of that. There are a lot of people who love making rules and having a tiny bit of power and a lot of people who love following obscure rules.
The algorithms on the site hide most stupid posts though which is good because the same idiots don't post conspiracy theories, their love of a politician, or their fantasies over and over, as they can't even pretend people want to see them there.
