I’m a Yared fan and have enjoyed watching him improve over the last 5 years.
I worry that his season this year is a harbinger of a future staleness and drop off in seasons to come.
here’s the data points, as I have no inside knowledge.
Ritz picked up a lot from Salazar. And I think a lot of high intensity interval work is done. I don’t think a lot of low to mid level strength work is done, like Jacob and others.
this will get you to improve mightily for a few seasons, then with less strength work, the foundation is not there to support more improvement. But the response is to do more intervals , or try to do them at an even higher intensity for improvement. this just brings the downward cycle on even faster.
example. Ollie hoare. mario g. these guys were great milers 2 and 3 years ago and after a few years with ritz, they struggle to be where they were previously. and they should not be aging out. It’s too early.
Yared. please consider this. do ur homework. and maybe spend the next year training like a 3K -5k. with lots of strength, work and threshold work, and longer races, and then come back to the 1500 in 2027, with a wider grace, more strength and ability to grow even higher levels. I think Ritzenhein might be blind to this weakness in his training.
