I watched Werro win the 800 today in Zurich holding off Hunter Bell. She reminds me of Juantorena with her powerful build and Coe with her effortless stride. To best Kratochvílová's steroid fueled record a runner needs not only to be efficient but have the impressive strength -- Werro possesses both. She is only 21, and although she might not win in Tokyo, I expect her to break the record next year.
I also thought of Juantorena while watching Werro today. Watching her run indoors this past winter - she seemed challenged in positioning herself in races because of her height and stride length. She seems much more comfortable running on the big track outdoors!
Hm. Let's wait and see. As far as i know, she recently finished her study and can focus more on sport.
But there's no rush, she has plenty of time, staying injury free is the key.

Not seeing anything to suggest that Werro will get anywhere near Keely as it stands though let alone the WR. I think Keely might go sub 1:54 this year, maybe in Tokyo which then puts her in striking distance of the WR. Werro will be scrapping for silver.

The indoor 800 is a brutal event. It’s basically full contact and the turns feel very tight. 800m might be the event that is most different indoors and outdoors.
