To call Brazier's long term injuries an advantage is silly, but where he is in his season is advantageous. He's still on the upswing with improving fitness. He still in that anabolic growth phase of training and racing where he's full of mojo. Almost all of his other competitors are at the end of very long seasons, exacerbated in 2025 by the Michael Johnson Games. This is evident in the recent decline of Hoey, but I see Arop hanging on to form as well. The science behind this inevitable decline is complicated, but I will call it chronic catabolism. Middle distance and distance runners just can't keep getting better week after week, year round. Even with the supporting substances all of these fellas are using, which certainly extends the upswing and plateau period, the human body starts to revolt and decline when physically and emotionally taxed for months on end. Cooper L. will be interesting to watch. He's had the longest season of all, but maybe the high school season was easy on him, given his superiority. I'd be surprised if he's in the mix, but I hope I'm wrong.
