So happy for him! Running 8:14.07 to meet the 8:15 standard with only a week remaining in the qualifying window is about as clutch as it gets. Congratulations, Dan!
I just watched his interview from the U.S. championships. I highly recommend, if anyone hasn't seen it already. He talked about his journey the last few years since finishing 4th at the 2021 Olympic Trials. Inspiring stuff.
He gives a lot of credit to Coach Eyestone for his success. Curious: does anyone keep a running tally/list of how many runners Eyestone has coached to make a global championship team in the steeplechase? That group has really been on a roll lately.

He ran 8:20 in the spring of 2021 (under the 2021 Olympic standard) and was 4th in the Olympic Trials Finals that season, missing the team by .49 of a second. He wasn't exactly a slouch. If he had made that team then people would know who he is. Perspective helps. He was a D2 Champion at Cedarville College.
So unless Keter runs the standard in the next week or so, the US worlds team this year will include the 2017 DII steeple champion (Michalski) AND the 2021 DIII steeple/5k champion (Wilkinson)! Great underdog stories
