on paper, the slow pace should've favored Hoey and Kessler. Their underperformance is difficult to explain. I think both peaked earlier this year. In the future, they should try skipping the indoor season.
Just having a rough season, that's all. Happens sometimes. I think he'll be back fighting for the top spots next year.
Yeah easy to forget he had that big personal situation in March (April?) with his girlfriend being hit by a car while on a bike - that's not an easy thing to deal with.
Plus this sport is just really hard to be on top for long periods of time - and when I say on top I even mean "relevant/making teams" on top.
He has a good support system and plenty of experience to lean on. He'll be fine.

Slow and tactical suits Hobbs why? He’s proven to be a good tactician in strung out and honest races, but hasn’t shown the high-end kick or comfort in packs within slower, crowded ones. Hoey meanwhile is just not a 1500 guy and he just kinda mistimed his kick. Not a bad placing honestly.
I wonder if there's something physically wrong with him. 800 specialist Hoey is having a better season at 1500.
10 years ago Hoey would be classified as an 800/1500 guy (he basically has similar PRs to Makhloufi lol). Now both events are comically deep and you essentially have to specialize.

They should have skipped GST. Or it was an off day. Hell, Nuguse tanked at Nats and everyone still kisses his ass.
He was in perfect position today, might've even taken out Kipsang inadvertently to remove any potential box. The last 200m finish was terrible...he just disappeared.
He is likely done this year, hasn't been the same. But he is from washed in his career still very young but Laros is for on a whole other level than him now.
I’d like to point out that he’s almost 6 months younger than Ethan Strand and that having a lackluster year after the Olympics isn’t uncommon. With next year being an “off” year for championships, I expect him to workshop some things and come back strong in ‘27.
