If you’ve already qualified then winning, the Diamond league doesn’t change anything. Young is already in and can’t qualify twice. Usa does not get an extra spot. If Cooper or Hunter for example was somehow allowed in the Diamond league final and they won it. They could qualify as could any other American because they are not already otherwise qualified
conditions weren't good, but I feel like that's what it is every year at Olympics and worlds.
must have been a case of the only two guys capable of running fast, also NEEDED the win. so nobody was gonna go for it. was this a waste of a trip for them?

Diamond league finals complete August 28 world championships start September 13. Teams are named and entries are finalized before August 28 as far as I can understand with the exception of this one extra qualification spot. Correct me if I’m wrong.

Incorrect. If Young or Fisher win the DL final they get a bye, meaning a fourth spot gets unlocked for the US.

Yeah this is kind of incredible. I immediately thought to myself, wow that's really slow - can't be a lot of points. Well it's really not a lot of points - it's about 877 points. So even with the 170 bonus points for that event (why you would even bother going) it's only 1047 points. Thats not even close to his top 3 scores and certainly not close to the 1230'ish points he needed to get into the top 40 and even give himself a chance.
I bet Hunter and Cooper, knowing the conditions would not likely be conducive to running fast, had accepted that neither is going to the Worlds, so they took this race as a chance to literally cash in on their abilities at being better than the rest and worked in their off-time at enjoying the sun & fun of the Bahamas. Presumably Hunter had his wife and maybe kids with him, and Teare may have had his certain female friend with him, too (you know - Hunter's ex-girlfriend).

Why do people continue to say this? fisher will not have enough points even if he wins on Wednesday, to make the top 10 and make the final for diamond league. Nico may not have enough points either. Even if he does make it, it’s unsure if he’s running the final. He may be in Hawaii with the swoosh group.
