Cole Hocker is that quick little weasel who always had a burst of insane speed in the last 100m and could sneak through any gap. Every high school or college team has one. Takes like 7 steps per second all of a sudden, defying all physics
He needs to showboat more to make track more mainstream for viewership purposes. Maybe do the Mutombo finger wag as he wins them break out the Griddy afterwards. Could get DQ'ed, but the financial ramifications and big name sponsorships will be readily available post race.
This is why he can close a 13:26 5k in sub 52 and no one else in the world can.
Close a 13:26 5000m In sub 52? I would guess Laros could do it. Peak Jakob could possibly do it. Bernard Lagat ran sub 52 in a 12:59 in 2006 to defeat Kenenisa.

Why would you guess Laros? His PB is 13:10, I wouldn’t be convinced the first 4600 might not take a little out of him.
Jakob could do it I suspect, and then looking at guys like Habz, Nuguse etc

I would guess Laros because I don’t think running 13:26 is that challenging for him, as he is improving and is now a 3:45 miler, and as I said, Lagat ran sub 52 in a 12:59, so I am not exactly blown away by a sub 52 in a 13:26.

To be able to run sub-52 you need to be close to fresh and have a lot of speed. Obviously I agree the latter for Laros/Lagat, but not convinced he’s as strong as you think. He ran 13:10 in a race won in 13:01.85

Sure but to be able to close a 3:45 mile in 53.3 you both speed and strength also. His European U23 Champs also convinced me. He ran 1:44 on 7/18, 13:44 on 7/19 and 1:44 on 7/20. He has gotten stronger.
