A good question that’s been asked about a thousand times for many distance runners, and other than for Houlihan, we have yet to receive an answer

But Quigley was training with Shelbo and running fast times. Then Shelbo gets busted and Quigley seems to avoid racing for years, and when she does race, she is much slower.

She’s been dealing with an injury for a long time while also transitioning to her own team. She ran faster than she did in St. Louis, so she’s on a path to getting back to where she’s been

She hasn’t been able to say healthy for any length of time recently. If she could stay healthy for a whole year I bet she could get closer to her previous results, but that hasn’t happened since before 2020.
