Not racing at all before World Champs is definitely not a "good thing". Especially since he was just announced for Brussels a few days ago, seems like there might have been an additional setback
Source please?
Here is an article from the Norwegian media. Jakob's media handler issued a statement.
I don’t think there were setbacks. Just an altered timeline… maybe just trust me on this one;)
I'm a big fan of Jakob(being Norwegian myself) but this is not a good thing. I'm getting quite worried about his prospects at WC. I wouldn't be surprised if he just does the 5k.

if there weren't setbacks, it's more and more likely he'll skip the 1500 and just go 5000 at worlds.
im sure he'll have something to say in the next day or two if it's very bad news.
This gives the Goose a better shot at the DL final now that Jakob can’t qualify for it. none of the Americans are likely to run it either (other than Hobbs).

Just saw the post on their instagram. Considering it was announced a few days ago that he was entered in Brussels and now this, I'd say it points to a setback. Hopefully it's minor.
Be ready for him pulling out of the World's.
He won’t race worlds. We’re getting close. If he’s had another setback and has to miss more training, he won’t be prepared and we won’t want to show-up in a position to finish off the podium.
Miss Houlihan also did the same thing in 2021.

So is his plan to literally just race the WC this season? Imagine he finally wins both? Would be the funniest thing ever in a season where he didn’t race at all.

Too big to fail

Also, this seems to be really worrying because this really can boil down to two reasons: 1. He doesn't want to race because he still wants time to reach his 100% level by the WC which is understandable or 2. He is still getting pain in his achilles and is really just training through to atleast run the WC.
If it's 2. then he is in big trouble and may only run the 5000m.

Jakob Ingebrigtsen faces new races before the World Championships – expert believes favorite distance may be broken
Jakob Ingebrigtsen's comeback is taking a long time. He will be absent from the Diamond League field in both Poland (August 16) and Belgium (August 22).
This is stated in a press release from the Rogalin athlete's media advisor Espen Skoland.
A long period of Achilles problems has so far spoiled the outdoor season, and it is still the one that is bothering him, Skoland said on Thursday.
Ingebrigtsen's withdrawal from the Poland and Belgium events means that he cannot qualify for the event in Zurich – and thus will not be able to run the Diamond League this season.
– I think Jakob is a little stressed about not running races, because it means that training is not going completely on track and that the injury is not one hundred percent healed yet, says NRK's expert Vebjørn Rodal.
Rodal adds:
But we should not forget that it has been less than a year since Jakob set a world record in the 3000 meters at an absolutely enormous level. He is a double European indoor champion this winter, a double world indoor champion. He has the best training base in the world.
Ingebrigtsen has not competed since he became the world indoor champion in the 1500 meters on March 23.
Already in May it was announced that he would have to skip the Bislett Games on June 12. After that he had to withdraw from a number of races.
In mid-July there was a bright spot. Then Ingebrigtsen went to St. Moritz in Switzerland to train at altitude, but the upcoming competitions in Chorzów and Brussels come too soon.
– Of course, he would have liked to have entered the World Championships with some positive results from races beforehand, says Rodal.
The World Athletics Championships in Tokyo have been the 24-year-old's stated main goal for 2025. The championships take place in mid-September.
Rodal thinks Ingebrigtsen may have to drop his favorite distance, because the training is so hard.
– I'm a little excited about whether Jakob chooses to compete over 1500 meters, because it's a little more demanding. Maybe he'll go to defend his title at 5000 instead? Then the training will be a little slower and there's not as much chance of him re-injuring his injury, concludes Rodal.

As Rodal and others speculate it’s 2 I think. I’m starting to believe he hasn’t been able to run pain-free at 1,500 pace and will opt for 5,000 only in Tokyo.
I would be surprised if him or Hodgkinson turn up in Tokyo
Especially Jakob, you don't mess with any achilles/calf strains
If he’s suffered another setback his season is probably over. I really hope it’s just a matter of race readiness and he’ll get everything he can out of the next 5 weeks before the championships, but at this point I’m not optimistic. I can’t stop thinking about what this year might’ve looked like had he been healthy.
not another setback. just not ready… I’ll stand by this

It's becoming increasingly clear that Jakob's running career is over. After having a child, the father suffers a drop in testosterone. An elite athlete should never have a child in the middle of their prime. They compromise their ability to recover and rebuild tendons/muscles permanently. Adding to that the unexpected and inexplicable (💉) rise of athletes like Cole Hocker, Phanuel Koech, Nico Young, and Azzedine Habz adds to him never medalling again in either event. It was a good run Jakob, but it's time to hang up the spikes.
