Would guess no. Schedule is almost ideal for prioritizing the 1500 and then running the 5000 as icing on the cake. Also, Hocker’s been talking about wanting to do that double for the last year or two IIRC.

M1500 schedule in Tokyo:
Day 2 - Day 3 - Day 5.
M5000: Day 7 - Day 9
My expectation is no, but perhaps they bring Teare as alternate and see how Hocker feels after the 15.

Doesn't work that way. Entries for individual events are set before the meet begins. People can scratch out of stuff in the course of the meet, but that's it.
Hocker just humiliated the #1 and #3 5k runners in the WORLD....by leading the whole race. That's insanely impressive.
He has a legit shot at winning gold in Tokyo in the 5k.
The race totally played into his hands today, even the inside of lane 1 opened up in the last straight. There wasn't a prelim in the 5k either which definitely helped him. We'll see how he fares in Tokyo, but I'd bet on the guys he "humiliated" today to finish ahead of him.
Also lol at him having a serious shot at gold. Even if Jakob doesn't race, Hocker is not the favorite.
I hope he does. Teare is a good enough runner to potentially make a World Champs final but the event is so deep in the US right now. I've been saying for a while he should go the steeple route

Good enough to make the World Champs final, but consistently isn't good enough to make the US team? Hard disagree.

I agree.
Hocker hasn’t been looking the best in the 1500m this season either. Maybe he’s gonna have a good peak for worlds but as of right now I like Hockers odds in a tactical 5000m more than any 1500m.

You can enter an alternate. There commonly are 4 athletes listed on those pre-meet entries. As far as I understand, you can switch in an athlete in this case. Ethiopia has done it before.

If anything, the #1 and #3 5k runners humiliated themselves by allowing Hocker to lead most of the race at a relatively easy pace, and then after passing him letting him pass them back on the inside at the end.

Far too much racing for Hocker to have any chance if he even made it into the 5,000m final.
