After Giles tripped Kerr in the final metres of the 800 last year, this year at the British Champs sees him once again recklessly try and block a surging Gourley in the final metres. It's not too clear from the video below but in the slow mo from head on you see Giles glance and move from mid lane two, fully into lane three, arms flailing and colliding with Gourley, who miraculously managed to stay on his feet and win. Gourley looked pretty pissed off whilst crossing the line and gestured at Giles in anger as if to say "wtf man?!"
At this stage, Giles has been involved in so many trips, falls and collisions that I imagine his competitors actually fear him; for all the wrong reasons.
Would you DQ?
How about that for a finish?! 😲
The final race of the day has a dramatic ending as Neil Gourley pips Elliot Giles to the finish line, despite a collision on the way. pic.twitter.com/wWJRLee1YF
Per the rules that's a clear DQ. He moved a full lane in the final 20 meters and made contact. Gourley had to jump to lane 4 but had enough strength to finish.
last year, when giles swung into kerr's incoming lane, there was an ounce of plausible deniability
i don't think anyone can honestly say now with a straight face that giles is not pathologically a total barbarian in the final 100m of any race
someone with the wherewithal ought to post the front-camera view that brit athletics showed on their feed. it could not be more of a blatant wuss move on giles part, straight up trying to run gourley off the track, makes contact, then feigns victim.
i've been watching giles' odd race collateral situations for years, but this one seals the fookin deal
Giles is as big an ass as Mo Ahmed who accidentally sabotages runners (usually Americans) in the homestretch. At the Olympics you could see him literally straining to somehow get to Fisher and step on his feet.
Giles is such an obvious POS but everyone knows he’ll cry “racism” if he gets tagged for his childish buffoonery.

That is a DQ. That is dangerous and bullsh-t from Giles. I don't quite get how it got to this within UK MD running because two of the most dangerous guys on the planet to race against are Giles and Mills who don't seem to grasp how bad the consequences can be for stuff like this.
These moves are always complicated to accurately judge because they all sit on a sliding scale. For example we know that Jakob absolutely moved off his line in Paris up the home straight and it was definitely in an attempt to make it harder for Josh Kerr, because it was the only way that Cole Hocker was able to win that race. With 90m to run there wasn't room, with 40m to run there was. So should Jakob have just been DQ'd as well? I think that's the best example of how moving out in the straight is acceptable vs what we saw from Giles there. In Paris Jakobs movement is not dramatic and more importantly it's still straight line running. It wasn't straight line as in parallel to the rail (which completely blocks Hocker) but it's still a straight line and therefore it's constant and not extreme (plus what, he ended up from the middle of lane 1 to the inside of lane 2 over the course of those 90 or so meters).
In this case Giles covers the same distance across the track (basically 3/4 of a lane) in the space of a stride. He literally sidesteps across in front of Gourley to impede him. Unlike Jakob that is dangerous and that is not okay. Mills did the same sh-t in London wanting to get back on the rail after pushing Kerr wide down the back straight. Poor Neil Gourley who seems to be a "recipient magnet" for this stuff because he was caught up in the London debacle and it could have been bad today.
At this point I think WA starts to need thinking about as warning system for athletes doing this because what are the consequences if you bring someone down and put them them out for the rest of the season when it's your profession? Right now it's a race DQ? Not good enough.
to giles' credit, he pretty much admits to everything here. said he apologized to gourley.
i don't think giles is consciously an a-hole, he seems like a solid dude if a bit odd, but he clearly disassociates and turns into a monster in these last stretches

For the 100000th time Krop cut off Fisher at the Eugene 5000m, Moh Ahmed never touched him.

Some of you need glasses.
do we have a source for this? always looked like mo clipping fisher to me
UK Athletics can secure another gold for the crown by sending their two man wrecking crew to Tokyo. With Giles and Mills running interference, Phanuel Koech and the Americans will be no match for Kerr’s imperious stride. Gourley might even scoop up a minor medal depending on how much damage the Brothers of Destruction can inflict.

Yeah, sh*tbirds like him always apologize after the fact. Moh does the same thing. Doesn’t mean they actually mean it, because they don’t. Bit the rubes always buy it.
Yeah, yeah. But if immediately jumping lanes and deliberately colliding with a faster closing runner in the dying metres of a race isn't a DQ then what actually is? Would Gourley need to have fallen and lost the champs? Why should that matter if the offending behaviour was the same either way?
At this point in time, UK selectors must actually be considering whether having Giles (and Mills for that matter) at the World Champs is actually a net positive. Best case is a top 10 finish and worst case they end up tripping a more promising compatriot like Kerr, as has already happened. As far as I'm aware there is noone on earth involved in as many falls and collisions as Giles and Mills and they're both from the same country. Clearly there is some sort of race brain/spatial awareness issue with these two that seems to be insurmountable, certainly for Giles as it is so long-standing. If I were a selector I'd leave Giles at home and take my chances on Wightman.
