I just mean to say people make threads about Koech because he’s had a more recent breakthrough, is Kenyan-born, is older, and disappeared from our consciousness. Strands been flashing crazy ability for 8 months plus.
People make threads about Koech because he's dropped 7 seconds in the 1500m in one season at age 28 (and probably has another 3 or 4 seconds in the tank), comes from a country that has over 400 doping busts (and a world record holder busted the other week), has just spent 2 months training there, and barely speaks English.
But yeah, let's be honest - we all know that if doping control was effective, Hobbs Kessler would probably have won that final at a canter.

Also let’s hear this 2-month stint in Kenya thing confirmed. He switched into Kip Keino late and then got hurt/was supposed to run LA GST nonetheless. For a guy based in Colorado Springs with an American coach, I’m unconvinced he was in Kenya all this time. It seems like a gotcha aspect some posters are saying without proof.

In Jon’s article, it’s revealed Koech trained in Colorado Springs under Haron Lagat after Kip Keino. Not surprising, and there have been busts in Colorado Springs. But still the training in Kenya conspiracy seems like BS.:

It's about senior championship, not junior, so the age doesn't matter.
US has 32% of runners from Paris Olympics who has less than 3 OOC tests, and an average of 4.7 OOC tests per runner
UK has 49% of runners from Paris Olympics who has less than 3 OOC tests, and an average of 3.6 OOC tests per runner
Kenya has 0 runners from Paris Olympics who has less than 3 OOC tests, and an average of 9.0 OOC tests per runner
Ethiopia has 0 runners from Paris Olympics who has less than 3 OOC tests, and an average of 10.2 OOC tests per runner
So Kenyan and Ethiopians are tested a lot more that US and UK runners, and 30-40 % of these tests are made by AIU, so it can't be manipulated.
And when you have 1/3 of olympic runners with less than 3 OOC tests, I don't think Strand has many OOC tests.
Okay, I’ll bit. Strand was solid as a sophomore, running 7:46 for 3k seemed to be the big standout. He ran a handful of other good races but was fairly inconsistent. The same thing happened his junior year. 45th at NCAA, solid track results here and there. 3:35 but back of the back at NCAAs and the trials. I’ll admit, I’m a hater of double threshold. I don’t think it’s magic. But damn it’s hard to argue with the results. UNC started doing double T in the spring of 2024 and all through this last academic year. It’s clearly working wonder for Strand. They used to do longer threshold sessions of 7-8 miles pretty regularly. Maybe the efforts were too hard as well. Now they do a lot of 5 and 5 or 6 and 4. Larger overall volume, smaller per session, seemingly a more gentle pace but tough to tell exactly. I really hate to admit it, but double T just works (for some people, I’ll keep being a hater).

How many OOC tests has he had this year? Is there a way to look something like that up?

I guess it could be the same for Hoey and Koech. I don’t know if they take it however.
As if the article can be taken as gospel and Koech can be trusted at face value. Because of course no Kenyan or his handlers would ever lie.
All that be determined with reasonable accuracy is that Koexh is likely yet ANOTHER doper from a culture that condones cheating.

sure. if doubling makes sense as a better way to get the most base mileage, why wouldn't it be better for workouts as well?
