The US men, as talented as the young core is, does not have the incentive to Voltron up for the meet, regardless of it being hosted here. Imagine if somebody at USATF knew what they were doing. Like Texas A&M a few years ago or Sark’s current Texas, how do you gather a stellar recruiting class? They don’t come on board because they see other big names signing or because they believe in the project. You pay them. And then provide a bonus structure for outcomes.

I still see big college programs recruiting Kenyans. Those Kenyans do not seem very worried.

The race is in January next year, isn't it normally in February or March? So ya makes sense you'd move the preparation schedule up a month or two.

I'll believe the hype of guys like Blanks, Young, Teare etc running it when I see it. I still think they'll all flake out and USA will be running like fringe college all americans and like the 10th place guys on the 5K/10K TF teams at usatf nationals.

Anyway, with no major track events in 2026 I'm hopeful that the US can put together a team that would not only be competitive but also a favorite to finally beat the Ethiopians and Kenyans.

Let's see, the long course team of Fisher, Young, Blanks, Mantz, Teare, Wolfe, Muhumed, Hunter, Rooks, et al would certainly strike fear in the East Africans.

The short course team of the aforementioned plus a litany of others such as Hocker, Nuguse, Kessler, Hoey, Strand, et al would be just as competitive.

No, It would absolutely not and would get crushed on home soil in the process, but keep being delusional.
