I certainly wasn’t expecting him to make it, and I hope he gets his off-the-track stuff in order and the allegations are false. Now it feels like Kenny B, Trayvon and…? Jordan Anthony maybe.
Coleman to Bednarek to Bromell to Lyles will work.
If past history tells us anything, it will be more like; Coleman to Bednarek to Bromell to Mondo then back to the locker room. Where "mondo" is the track surface rather than a person.
Now if we could just get him to stop posting stupid effing baseball photos with captions about how he’s such a baseball star. Eye roll. Emotionally immature and one of those people who has to make up haters so that they can “stick it to them”. I wish him the best but I think his career will begin to wind down on the track. This would’ve been one of his last chances to make a worlds team tho and I don’t expect him to be on the team in LA 2028. Too bad because it seems like the legal issues really played a part in this.
Yes, so he claims. It's pretty typical that when people cant stop doing stupid sh!t they seek a spiritual answer in hopes that Jesus, Allah, Buddha, etc., can make them stop doing stupid sh!t.
He is hedging his bet and also getting ready to possibly change allegiance to either Turkey or Bahrain where podium contenders are typically given a $2 million dollar per year sponsorship. Two of the top Jamaican athletes recently switched to Turkey for big money - the Paris Olympic discus champion Roje Stona and Paris Olympic shot put silver medalist Rajindra Campbell. Kerley has already visited Turkey. The only problem now is he isn't going to Tokyo worlds where he could have solidified his value with a podium or near podium finish. Athletes switching allegiance to either of those countries are required to convert to Islam and adopt new names. In Fred's case, if he does get convicted or pleads to a felony he can no longer be on a US track team. So if that happens he will almost certainly switch allegiance.

KINGSTON, Jamaica — Olympic medallists Roje Stona and Rajindra Campbell are reported to have switched allegiances to Turkiye after being lured by attractive financial remunerations. This is according to media reports, which q...

I just scrolled through his Instagram page, and I agree the baseball stuff is weird. Looks like he’s pursuing a career in baseball. He’s tagging MLB in videos of him practicing, and he has a post that states: “Life lately… one foot on the track, one hand on the bat.”
Overall, it’s clear Kerley has been going through a lot. He’s got the legal issues, he recently converted to Islam, and he’s posted the following in recent weeks:
A photo of him and his deceased sprinter friend, Shavez Hart, with the caption: “I miss you fr… it’s been real heavy on me down here lately. Just trying to hold it together.”
A photo of him wearing a cowboy hat with the caption: “This ain’t just a hat - it’s a crown carved in dust and struggle.”
A photo of him on a motorcycle with the caption: “At war with myself, but I trust Allah is guiding me through the chaos.”
Seems like it’s a good idea for him to take time to get his life sorted. Even if he never wins another global championship medal, he’s had a fantastic career.
his legal troubles this year muat have played into this
This article from the Washington Post has a good overview of his legal issues and his personal life. Some notes:
Kerley’s rise to the Olympics began in hardship. His father was imprisoned, and his mother, Kerley previously said in interviews, fell victim to drug addiction by the time he turned 2.
He was deemed a ward of the state when preparing to go to college.
There was an incident his sophomore year in college when he tried to stop a basketball player from his school from getting in a fight with people at a dance club, and the player slashed him over the eye with a piece of glass.
His divorce case is still pending, and his soon-to-be ex-wife who alleged that he abused her said she’s leaning against testifying against him in court because she doesn’t want him to go to prison and be away from their kids.
Kerley transcended a tumultuous early life and became one of the most significant sprinters of his era, but his career and reputation are now at a crossroads.

I’d rather have someone like Marcellus Moore with a strong 100 on the first leg or someone like Courtney Lindsey who can run a strong turn (sub 20 and sub 10 this season, without any bed sh1tting performances)
