This winter I plan on running some 1500 and 3000m races indoors just too see where my fitness is. The problem is I'm injured right now. Once I get back running I want to build a good base which will probably bring me into the winter....
So say off of just long 8-15 mile runs everyday at an average of 6:20-7:00 pace (remember the snow slows you down in the winter) would I still be able to maintain good track fitness for say a sub 4:10 1500m and a sub 8:55 3000m?
Or do you feel I would need to add tempo runs and several track workouts into the program?
