4th place at USAs can go home with their head high. The 1992 US trials below were in fact deeper than 2024, 4th in 1:44 flat (Hoey ran 1:44.12 in 2024) -- I suspect this year will blow both races out the water
1. Johnny Gray (SMTC) 1:42.80 24.1/49.5/1:15.7 2. Mark Everett (Fla) 1:43.67 25.0/51.0/1:17.6 3. Jose Parrilla (Tenn) 1:43.97 25.0/51.2/1:18.0 4. George Kersh (Taft) 1:44.00 24.3/49.8/1:16.4 5. Terril Davis (Accusplit) 1:44.44 24.7/50.5/1:16.8 6. Ocky Clark (Mazda) 1:44.87 24.4/50.1/1:16.6 7. Erik Nedeau (Unat) 1:46.19 25.3/51.3/1:19.6 8. Stanley Redwine (Nike West) 1:46.75 24.3/49.6/1:16.0
Excellent from Brazier. Very confident about him making the team now. Great to see him back on the world stage and think he’ll keep improving.
I'm not VERY confidnet.
While Brazier ran faster today than the PRs of Jonah Koech (1:43.32) and Brandon Miller (1:43.52) , I'm wondering if Miller is ready for a big one atUSAs after his recent 3:35 1500 pb.
As a former coach, I will say I find it wild that Miller will enter USAs with only 1 outdoor 800 race on his CV this year. He PRd in Rabat on May 25th and hasn't run an 800 since.
Although I still have questions about Brazier through the rounds and at the end of a long season in September, this was so good from him. He does belong on the world stage even in this new racing environment.
No marks on WA profile since the 1:43.32 in Nairobi on May 31. Perhaps a really long block of training? You'd think he would get one more shakeout before USAs

Great callback. It might take a 1:42 to make the U.S. team this year, which would be crazy.
it will definitely take 1:42. Hoey is gonna take it from the gun. and there very well may be several PRs attached to him. The US version of Rudisha 2012.

it will take 142 mid to make the team....
3Miller seems like a good bet, and may lop a second off his best
