Now we want to see an Olympic Quad meet each year with the TOP 4 Olympic Track and Field Medal schools in history head to head no holds barred, USC, UCLA, Stanford, and UC Berkeley.
What happened to Milton Mallard? He is no longer listed as a coach on USC's website.
Good catch. This is totally wishful thinking on my part, but I'm hoping Mallard no longer being listing as a USC coach means one thing: Nike has hired him to lead a new pro training group built around Athing Mu-Nikolayev!

That's the first thing that came to my mind, but I'm not sure Mu would switch coaches right before USAs or right before the World Championships if she makes the team.
On the other hand, what college job opening is there that is so good it would make Mallard want to leave USC?

Martinez is probably the clean world championship from this race.
The 2013 Silver went to Mariya Savinova, the 2011 champ. Savinova was later banned and her results rescinded. That moved Martinez up to silver and Montaño to bronze. Eunice Sum, the Kenyan gold medalist, still has her title. However, this was an era of massive Kenyan doping (400+ now) that went unchecked until a few years later. And look at who her coach was:
"Under the advice of her coach, Claudio Berardelli, Sum opted to target the 1500m in 2012."
Berardelli has had multiple athletes test positive. So, it's not at all unlikely that she was doping.
Don’t know how good Brenda Martinez is as a coach but she was an absolute delight to watch compete. Fearless against some of the biggest dopers and intersex athletes.

He’s at ASU now
Why would Milton Mallard leave USC for ASU? That seems like a step down.
Breaking news? I think the NYT and a few other major publications have killed the importance of the announcement of "breaking news."
Should be reserved for something unique and momentous. This is not breaking news really, but interesting news or something....but....good for her, great athlete and human.
