That's really sad. We've discussed him on here and pretty much agree he was not his stated age (probably used his dad's identity and is 20 years younger). But it's a tragedy his life ended this way
The subtitle of the article ("Despite uncertainty about his date of birth, Singh inspired countless people") is kind of strange. It makes it sound like her overcame not being too sure about his birthday to inspire people.

Yessah! V. Inspiring here in East Africa where many folk are also unsure of their birthday. We are very sad Mr. Singh has passed. We hope he is reincarnated as a Kenyan junior.
Lets body that MF who killed him.

The o.p. is of Indian decent
Age group records must not be allowed for any runner who can't prove their age.

I agree, but there was definately a time around early 20th century when birth certificates were not clearly produced at hospitals and given to indian parents. My maheo (grandfather) was born in 1891 and he has no birth certificate other than what the us calvary wrote up when forced to Indian 🇮🇳 territory.
How old do you think he really is? It’s doubtful he’s anywhere near 114.
Extraordinary man. And refreshing that so many details are unclear in an age where we expect everything to rigorously documented. Even if he was 20 years younger than suggested it's still a life to admire. Tragic that a motorist took that away.

Did they catch the driver who redeemed him?
Ironically, if he hadn't got hit by the car and had lived another 5 years, let alone 10 or 20, it would have been obvious that he had lied about his age.
Post about an Indian lying about his age by a white guy lying about being Indian.
Interestingly the oldest verified man currently alive is 112. So this guy casually walking around crossing roads at 114 isn't that likely.
Probably late 80s to 90s I'd guess. Probably can't be much less as he'd have surely looked too young when he was supposedly 100.

I'm very interested in this detail. Could you expand on this?

You're not going to do anything. You never do.
It would have been interesting to see how long he would have lived if he'd died of natural causes. If he'd got over 120 people would probably be more suspicious.
Obviously sad he died anyway, not just because we didn't get to see any changes in opinion!
He's like a reverse-Kiphoge.
Kipchoge nearer 60 but claims to be 39.
Sadly this guy never even got a trophy as most races only go up to MV70
