Nike already had the marathon supershoes at the 2016 Olympic marathon trials (Rupp and other top Nike athletes had them). Surely, they had enough time to put together spikes by Rio. Simply a carbon plate (at least).
That would actually make a ton of sense. His energy return was far greater than his (much) superior competitors. That's the only way he was able to win.
No he did not, the pros didn't start racing in the dragonfly prototypes until 2019. And the original dragonfly's don't even have a plate, just the ZoomX foam

So you think it's unreasonable to assume that Nike didn't want their goldenboy to have the prototype to increase his chances of winning? I have a bridge to sell you.
He did not. Almost certain it was a Mamba upper (in Rio colorway) with an OG Victory plate. Regardless, just search on Google images next time. Easy to confirm this.

Even if he did, they wouldn’t have made any difference while running on the forefront of his feet over the last 600m.
There is a very high probability that his spikes had a carbon fiber plate. That kind of tech was nothing new and Nike did have it in their Victory series of Mid-d spikes. And between you and me, the spikes were very very good for running fast.

Agree. People here are so blinded by their love of Centro and his "gold" that they can't accept that he very likely had an unfair advantage the rest of the competitors didn't have.

Nike pays professional athletes in order to sell shoes. Kipchoge and Rupp got prototype Vaporflies, and then Nike released the Vaporflies and sold tons of them.
This didn’t happen for Centrowitz. The Dragonflies were three years later and not marketed as “Matthew Centrowitz’s gold medal shoe”.
No he did not have superspikes. You can tell simply by looking at pictures form the race and seeing the stack height of his shoes. Many shoe companies (including nike) had already been putting carbon fiber plates in spikes for years, so it wouldn't surprise me if him and everyone else in the field had that in their shoes. The mamba 1 (came out in 2010) and the victory elite (came out in 2012) and future versions of each of these shoes all contained carbon plates.

Not sure, but the 5000 & 10000 records weren’t broken until mid 2020. I think if they existed in 2016 we would have seen a lot of track records broken before 2020. Unless you’re saying Centro was the only runner on earth with them? I doubt it.
Even still, according to the majority of the LR community, super spikes have had little to no impact on the recent improvements in competitive running.
Nike Zoom Victory Elite 2 spikes back in 2016 had a carbon fiber plate. They were commercially available. The only runner who had an advantage spikes-wise was Rupp in the 10k. He had the first prototype of the Dragon Fly to save his legs.

No, it’s another example of no-talent jealous dweebs who hate any succesful American runner. Hocker gets the same treatment from these failures.

New Balance also had a carbon fiber shank in their MD shoes as early as like 2012.

Yes this is correct. Same model shoe but in a different color way for his world silver medal in 2013.
In 2011 he wore his Victory 1 track spikes with the U of O colorway.

Obviously OP, missBS and The Beaver's Creek are all the same people. But, using supershoes in a 3:51 1500m race would make no sense when it comes down to a sprint.
