The top two U.S. middle distance runners-Bernard Lagat and Alan Webb- stepped on the track today for the Adidas Track meet. Bernard Lagat had a outstanding early season performance; however, Alan Webb didn't run up to expectations (fans and most likely his as well). Alan Webb will surely bounce back and post some outstanding performances this summer at the 1500m and 5000m. Bernard Lagat who opened this outdoor season posting a 3:32.94 for 2nd place- a full 1.5 seconds faster than he ran last year at Adidas. In 2005 Bernard had a wonderful season being World Rank in the 1500m (2nd), 3000m (5th), and 5000m (10th). By virture of his season debut he is in better shape this year than he was in his 2005 campaign.
Can Bernard Lagat pull off another World Ranking triple?
What America records do you think he will take down in 2006?
As it stands he is United States best hope for a medal in the middle distance for 2007 (Worlds) and 2008 (Olympics) or is he?
