Youngest ever to go under 3:40 with that run though.
By a good 6 months on Ingerbritsen, which is probably more clout than the 16yo record.
Yes, he only turned 16 in April, so he will have a real opportunity to run a bit faster in the NZ 'summer' season.
I think I read this was to be his last race in the Northern Hemisphere outdoor season and that he's going back to NZ now. I could be wrong though.
One athlete whose name I've seen mentioned a few times, but nowhere near to the extent of Ruthe, Myers etc is Alois Abraham of France. He ran 3.38.62 a few weeks ago and doesn't turn 17 for a few more weeks.
Admittedly he's many months older than Ruthe, but beating Laros's European U18 record is not to be sniffed at
