That was big WOW! Hoey got bumped around in first 200m throwing him off pace and thought he might pay for in the end but he was very strong thru the finish and running with better form. Arop laid too far off the pace to be in it at the end. And Wanyonyi looks unbeatable. I call him Rudisha's Mini-Me ;-)

Just 0.02 seconds short of being a 1:41 guy. Crazy.

Wejo said he didn't have a perfect trip this race meaning he didn't have the optimal race (ran a little in lane 2) so he probably has 1:41 in him.

“Poetic” is an interesting way to spell “suspicious”. I’ve always been hesitant to accuse anyone but it’s a bad American habit to point out international athlete’s too-good-to-be-true performances while defending our own and I’m just conflicted.

It comes from the world of horse racing, but applies as well to track races, and particularly in which athletes leave their lanes and share space.

The term "perfect trip" refers to the ideal journey a horse and jockey experience during a race, minimizing wasted energy and maximizing their chance of winning.

In track it would include having the rail position around corners, not being boxed in at a crucial moment, not being elbowed, tripped, or having your heels clipped, etc. In the 800 it would also include breaking from the lanes and running a straight line (least distance) to the second turn and being able to make that turn along the rail.

Stitchimo...... this went exactly as I called it including the traffic conflicts negating the WR possibility, the pace choices e.g. of Arop to avoid the traffic being suboptimal etc., with the predictable result.

It's clear that my race map for the 800WR assault is evidently the best. For those who missed the other thread, that means TWO top athletes and the rest at 1:43/1:44 - fast enough to remain in touch up to 600 - and intelligent pacemaking with an even 49-mid (24.low/25.low). No surging/passing/conflicts. Smooth pathway for the top two e.g. WANYONYI and AROP. Actually I'd add HOEY to that pool list now put him in this well-planned race and he goes 1:41-mid or low.

What PEDs do these 800 cats take? Is it EPO or anabolics, because of the speed/power combo required?
