all Norwegian papers (nrk, vg etc.) are reporting that he is dropping London. According to his press advisor he needs more time to recover properly. No info on any setbacks or anything concrete about his progress

I think a few of us here were anticipating Silesia might be his opener anyway, so the London news aligns with that.

here’s the article that confirms he is out. After London DL there is a one month dead period. Next one won’t be til aug 16th siliesia. If he isn’t racing by then, his season will likely be over.
From what i understand, things are going quite ok for Jakob. Filip mentioned after his last race that the plan is for Jakob to join them in st moritz in the near future. he will probably need at least 3-4 weeks at altitude to get in proper shape. So it was quite obvious that there wasnt enough time for London.
Jakob previously said that with this injury, he would have trained through it if it occurred closer to meets that mattered. He'll be fine. He was just being cautious and thinking big picture.

This is good news, I didn't know this. Do you know where he said it?

Here's one article where he talks about how he would have continued running if it was right before a big championship:
Norway's Olympic 5,000m champion Jakob Ingebrigtsen said Wednesday that he did not have a fixed date for a return to competition ahead of September's world championships in Tokyo.

His brother Filip said that he would be joining Jakob on an altitude trip. So I don’t think it’s that the season’s over it is just that he isn’t taking any risks for Tokyo.
Or a soft open at Norwegian Championships but yeah. I think his odds of winning the 1500m final in Tokyo are getting longer…
Why would it be getting longer? Lack of racing doesn’t really change the outcome in Tokyo.
Yeah, and honestly probably not a bad thing for Jakob to shed the "favourite" tag coming into Tokyo due to limited racing and a few fitness unknowns, not that I truly believe this impacts him greatly. Let someone else take on the favourite pressure for a change.
The other school of thought is that everyone is going to be burnt out come September, but Jakob will be relatively fresh.

"more time to recover properly" means he isn't healthy yet. If he was healthy but not yet in shape to race fast, they'd say something different. This isn't a good sign for him not only being healthy in September, but being able to race with the other 3:27/3:28 runners that exist.

3-4 weeks at altitude won’t help and initially he’ll have some bad workouts. If there is a benefit from training at altitude, he needs to live at altitude like the Americans do.
