I agree 100%. Seriously, who the hell would run for Jerry or Diljeet? Their priorities are all about college kids first. Why would any pro want to be treated like second tier to a college coach? It just doesn’t make sense.
I like Miltenberg's attitude. probably feels like he's done most of what he can for them, and he wants to focus on his school kids. Mike Smith decided the opposite, which is also commendable.
Jerry has too much on his plate to coach professionals.
Diljeet i think just coaches girls cross and track distance? it's a lot less resonsibility than overseeing an entire program. She can probably handle taking on a few.

Totally agree with you. I honestly don’t understand why any athlete would choose to run for Diljeet or Jerry as a pro in their pro groups when their main priority should be supporting their college runners. Otherwise you’re second best

Hell yeah Milt for calling out Diljeet and Jerry for being greedy and putting money over doing the right thing. And big props to Mille Smith for realizing you can’t coach both pros and college effectively at the same time by quitting his gig at NAU and focusing only on the pros!
Whoever at Nike thought it was a brilliant idea to throw millions at Breaking 4, hire Diljeet, and keep Jerry along with that pro coach must be seriously brain dead. They’re completely lost and have no clue what they’re doing. It's a total disaster from top to bottom.

Miltenberg made a solid point and threw serious shade at Diljeet and Schumacher. I love it because it’s so damn true.
With all due respect, Mike Smith did not do a good job balancing both pro coaching and college coaching. His college team fell apart this year and aside from Nico, his pro runners have been underperforming this year.
Clearly coaching pros came at the expense of the college team, and vice versa.
That's not an insult, he's a great coach. But even he realized that trying to do both wasn't fair to each group and that's why he's going pro only. It was a smart decision.

It’s pretty selfish of Jerry and Diljeet to try and do both. They know it’s impossible to give 100% to both sides, yet they’re still insisting on it. At the end of the day, it seems like it’s really just about the money for them.

Last time I checked, Diljeet has 2 Olympians (both who stayed with her after college) while simultaneously coaching a very successful college distance program. Time will tell with a larger group of pros but I would say it has worked pretty well for her so far.
It's just spin. Milt is prioritizing family and job, so he emphasizes the virtues of getting a separate pro coach, while Diljeet coaches pros as well and so emphasizes her virtues as a pro and college coach. I didn't think Jerry was adding any pros to his group. There is barely anyone left anyway.
Fresh off the Olympic gold and record, with a 7:22 and 3:47 mile in 2025, and over two months to go until World's, Cole Hocker is doing just fine, thank you very much.
