Maybe a silly question but I'm wondering how to break down the weekly mileage %
So I broke 20 min for a 5k and my goal is to run a marathon next year so I want to do a base for a year first and have an average of 50-60 miles per week for the whole year
Just wondering what this looks like for slower runners? Supposedly the threshold shouldn't exceed 10% of weekly mileage, but as my threshold is slow, I have no chance to run in let's say a 30 min tempo run, I would have to run threshold intervals and I would still have to sometimes run over 30 minutes on those intervals to fit in at least 8 or 10% of weekly mileage
Is it a problem, can I run threshold as 6-7% of the weekly mileage? after all, I will not do intervals now as I will do the base only some strides, hills sprints etc then threshold, this will leave me somewhere with 90% of slow running!
And in addition to easy running I often see that runners do easy run in 1h, but in my case to have 50 mpw I would have to run with 1h10 sometimes 1h15 to be average 50 mpw or more, I do not know how to go about it. please advise!
