You can pass a slow runner you know. You don't have to wait in single file behind them.

If Tim wanted to take the lead and then slam the brakes, and noone passed him, that meant they all agreed with slamming the brakes.

Nothing stopping the field running around Tim if they thought it was a problem. They would have had a view of where Nuguse was coming around the bends.

In a race like that it's just follow the leader, they most likely didn't even realize they were off the leaders until it was too late.

I have followed the sport for around 30 years. Allegations don't equal wrongdoing in any walk of life. You have to prove it. Do you have any evidence of wrongdoing on the runners part? This sounds like a take from that genius Bad Wigins who would mindlessly parrot the phrase "Guilty until proven innocent". Which is the opposite of a logical argument.

What actually happened was that Tim took the lead and several athletes made a business decision to not go wide on the turn at 600 and start pushing to catch the leaders or make a pass on Tim. Then at 500 to go, Laros was the only one who really went crazy and dared to really unleash. Most guys kicked well the last 200 including Tim because they rested from 800-1200.

But have you ever thought that most of the field didn't want to go at WR pace, and was banking on the Nuguse running out of gas and coming back? Almost exactly like what happened. World records don't come from race position they come from biology and no body on that track was breaking the world record that day.
