Umm, you're a fan of a sport that has a pro layer that has zero real rigor to it. Sorry to break it to you, there are no "pro cards" or anything close. You're invited to compete based on situational standards. Sorry neither you nor any of your runners got that call.
I tend to agree with this, but actually the runners I think about didn't even make the cut, or wouldn't put themselves on the line, to run at the Prefontaine: American "pros" who don't think they will have a chance to break 15 minutes - even in the fastest 5k ever. At least Klosterhalfen gave herself a chance. I'm not looking forward to the pedestrian times that will be recorded at yet another "tactical" 5k in the USATF championships.
One of those lapped runners, Konstanze Klosterhalfen, set a German national record in her most recent race before the pre classic. She is the 2nd fastest European at the road 10k ever. There are only maybe 10 European women in history who would have had a chance at not getting lapped at the Pre Classic.

Is Europe really that bad in the 5k? Dozens of Americans have run the like 15:05 or so that you would need not to get lapped..
Let’s be honest. There’s no point to American women’s professional distance running. Not a single American BORN finisher in the top 20 in a race in America.

Translation, there is no point to women’s European professional distance running either.
