Just came across it in a great article on her by Scott Reid in the OC Register. I highly suggest you read it.
The article is great. I'm very encouraged about Mu's prospects after reading it. It reveals she loves running, which is key to me. Her talent is off the charts.
It also includes a lot from coach Kersee who explains he thought it was important to take Mu to Paris last year.
“Sport is sport. She’ll bounce back. She’s 22 years old. She’s going to win a lot of other races. She’s going to go to more Olympics and maybe even break some world records.”
So Kersee took Mu-Nikolayev to Paris.
“The worst thing to do when you’re depressed is to remove yourself, and alienate yourself and crawl up and let frustration get the best of you,” Kersee said. “You have to get back as fast as you can so you can get over that point.”
The article also says her husband competed in the 2012 Olympics for Russia in the 1500, but Jonathan Gault believes that's incorrect. See below.
