How would you feel if someone like Phanuel Koech broke the 1500 WR this season?

Why would I care? Whoever breaks the record breaks the record. I am not going to be racist about it. You don’t run 3:26 or 7:17 without a little help from the pharmacy.

OP trying to instigate. Koech os one of the moat obvious frauds we’ve seen in a while - and that’s NOT counting the age fraud. 3:27 literally out of nowhere. Helluva responder. Wonder how many runners his handlers went through while testing to to find the top responder…

I think it would feel a little unsatisfying. But to be clear he didn’t even win the race in which he ran 3:27. So there’s a long way to go. Though 1500 running has changed and breaking 3:28 is more like 3:29 of the past, it’s not like the NCAA 1500m record…yet.

Jakob Ingebrigsten has run those times, So It can be done, great if Phanuel Koech runs 3:25 or faster, until someone has been caught and convicted in a court either by a Judge or a Jury of 12 Peers who have to believe the person is guilty beyond a shadow of a doubt (or maybe a Reasonable Doubt, I am not sure which one) the person has to be considered INNOCENT, That is the rule, The founding Fathers made.

To me it would be much less satisfying than seeing someone like Jakob get it. It’s not that I dislike Koech, but I wouldn’t feel like I could trust the record any more than I already do as it stands with El Guerrouj. If Jakob broke it, then I feel like I would appreciate that he has been a trusted athlete in the sport for a while now and that it’s possible the record is clean

Lance Armstrong was “a trusted athlete in the sport” for quite some time. This means nothing.

Not really at all comparable. By the time he was winning, he was very heavily suspected of doping.

To me, if Koech broke 3:26, especially if it were next year, it wouldn’t be much different than Kelvin Kiptum breaking 2:01. Two immensely talented athletes coming out of relative obscurity to fairly quickly become the fastest in history.

No interest in your bridge, as I don’t believe records are typically being broken these days by clean athletes. But some here seem to think that whites are more likely to be clean or some such nonsense.

I don't find Jakob to be trustworthy at all. In my view, he's the distance running equivalent of Ivan Drago. Very sus.

I'd rather see someone from humble beginnings like Koech break the record because it would mean life changing money for him.

Jakob has had a privileged life since he was a boy. Now he has a garage full of expensive sports cars. He doesn't need the record bonus money.

So let me get this straight. Having only run one 1500m in his life, his agent was able to get him into a DIAMOND LEAGUE race with times of a 1:47 800m and a 3:56 road mile? Eric must be some agent.

Well Koech had run 1:46 and 3:32, so this in itself made him world class.

It's not enough for me that he breaks the WR, I want him to totally destroy it and put it out of reach for another 25 years! Something like 3:23!

Then in 25 years time, the white kids will finally be getting close to 3:23, and just like magic, another 18 year old Kenyan will emerge and be the first to break 3:20.
