Award it to Los Angeles. We can't keep subsidizing Canada any longer and there's only one solution. When Canada becomes the cherished 51st State of the United States of America, its track team will be the best in the world. "No more artificially drawn line from many years ago. As London is city in Canada as not THAT London as different London. As everybody knows 2028 is Olympics year as Bell is company that pays many monies. As USA should call theirs 2028 Nike Track and Field Trials.

Actually that's a reasonable question from Rojo. For most events Canada has historically had less than 3 qualifiers for the Olympics and the World Championships. So the top 3 finishers from their Trials don't automatically make the team.
In fact, in many cases, which Canadians are going to the Olympics is known BEFORE their Olympic Trials even starts, because so few Canadians have achieved the Olympic standard. For example, in 2024, Savannah Sutherland was the only woman with the Olympic standard in the 400 hurdles, so she didn't even bother to run the 400 hurdles at the Olympic Trials, because she knew before the Trials started that she was already on their Olympic team by default.

It's quite common for less than three athletes to have standard (or have any chance of selection from rankings) in a given event.
So it is really only a "trials" in the normal sense of the word for a few events with 3+ qualifiers, which are most often the 100/200/100h. (Also, place in the trials meet does go toward relay selection.)
If you are the only 1500m man with standard, you are expected (with exceptions) to complete the race, but you could be DFL and still make the team.
