Yesterday IShowSpeed raced 80m twice against another streamer/influencer Daniel Labelle. I downloaded the Youtube video, loaded into professional audio/video editing software and made cuts right at the beginning of the starting whistle and right before the tape breaks.
1st race took 8.717s
2nd race took 8.961s
If IShowSpeed kept the same speed for another 20m he would clock a 10.90s and a 11.20s 100m respectively.
So much for talking about beating Noah Lyles or Tyreek Hill...

1s in 100m is an eternity. If he ever improved this much, this would be one of the biggest success stories in track history.

This would be an equivalent of Sage Canaday talking about beating Kipchoge and actually doing it.
No way the timing/distance for this stunt is accurate. I saw his 'race' against Lyles
Lyles was jogging, it looked like 12 secs pace at best.
I would be surprised if this show off could break 11 secs
Because the 100m time would really show what is what and it's not good for business. Right now with all these vague ghetto races he can generate clout and money. It helps to talk himself up to the levels of Tyreek Hill and Noah Lyles. If he ran a 10.9 100m it would end his career immediately.
Also, Lyles was definitely sweating at the start, as he got out slower and had to catch up. As soon as he did that, he started goofing off.
another thing that we should consider is that speed isn't under the same scrutiny as pro athletes. he can dope as much as he can. i am not saying he is or he isn't on any, but just saying.
10.9 on a concoction of PEDs ain't too impressive. He's an "influencer," most of them are on stuff like Tren and Test. Yeah, not the brightest bunch. I do like Speed's videos though--at least he does have real talent unlike some of them.

He is only 20 years old and also skinny. Add the delusions of participating at the 2028 olympic games and I would not be surprised if he's still clean. You can run 10.9 on talent alone.

IShowSpeed’s explosive energy makes him entertaining, but when measured against world-class athletes, raw hype meets hard numbers. Fun stunt, but the stopwatch doesn’t lie.

I think the guy is a clown, but he did come close to beating Noah Lyles over 60m.

Lyles was messing around too much and had a very bad start.
The fascinating part of this is, that someone who can run 100m in maybe 10.90 is making at least $7 million annualy, which is more than Noah Lyles, who runs 9.79.
Which makes you think about the future of athletics, the viewership and the sponsors.

I don't know much about ishowspeed, i'm not interested in streamers, but this guy is all over the internet even I know who he is. He has 40mil subscribers just on his youtube channel. Lyles is (probably) the most famous pro runner right now and he's nowhere near speed's popularity. Lyles can take advantage of the fact that sprinters are media's darlings of the track and field and he's still relatively unknown.

True. It seems that it is not necessary to be super fast or train endlessly while sacrificing your social life to make a great living. Quite the opposite is true, you can be slower if you are very social and have a vibrant personality.
This is why track and field is not doing too well. The biggest part of athletes can barely speak english and have no personality. Just regular people who train themselves to a state where they have no energy left for entertainment.

The money he's earned doesn't have anything to do with sprinting.
