-Almost no high schoolers forgo their high school eligibility to “chase time in elite races”
-The multiple national championships is pretty frustrating. At least in cross NXN is pretty clearly the most competitive meet, in track it’s been much more spread out.
-How much are people on here going to keep talking about “overage seniors”?? At worst high schoolers will have an extra year of development, but there’s so much variance in physical development person to person that it means totally different things for different athletes. Also, some athletes start competing at the age of 6 - is this unfair? They had 8 more years of training (not intense training usually, but regardless) than other kids who grew up with parents who cared less or in a worse area.
-2 seconds a lap for super shoes is an absurd estimation. The “3:59 is worth x:xx” is such a pointless debate anyways. It’s impossible to get even close to a generalization like that because (which should be pretty obvious) everyone is a different runner.
