The flat PR of that entire list is 8:39 by Coburn. I doubt any of them could crack 8:30 if they switched over and trained for it full time

The reference to cracking 8:30, don't recall a lot of posters' female goddess and all-time great Valby breaking 8:30? What do you think she could run in a steeple, or could she complete one without getting injured🙄

11 of the 13 best US women's steeplers are currently active (only Quigley and Simpson have run faster than these 11). Obviously Coburn and Frerichs aren't in their prime anymore, but most of these women are either in their prime or is on the upswing. This is crazy depth. Trials should be super competitive.

Valby is not an all-time great, so much for that straw man. There are much better US 3000 runners than her.

Only thing I was wrong about was Quigly has broken 8:30, though this was indoors which is always suspect. Doesn't mean she could repeat it outdoors on flat turns
