ND isn't Stanford but it's still a good school An (female) olympic medalist who went there for undergrad surely could have gotten into Stanford or Harvard for a MBA, and she went to Devry instead?
MBA from Notre Dame is $200k. And from Devry it was apparently free. So good for her.
There's a few post grad degrees where the school truly matters. Getting your MBA isn't one of them. Some of the dumbest people I've worked with in business have MBA's from top 10 schools. They thought they could buy their way to success, and frankly intelligence. And I won't deny it helps in some cases, especially if your heart is set on going the consulting route and work 90 hours a week at McKinsey. Which to me makes you insane. But regardless, for 99% of people save your money and focus on cost first if for some reason you really think an MBA is worth it.
I remember a post from a while ago that asked everyone to list their colleges, and most of them were bargain basement so I’m not sure LR should be judging anyone on where they went to school.
Most importantly, she channeled her energy into something positive and she’s proud of it. Good on her, not that she should care what I think.

Maybe she didn't want to associate with a bunch of overrated snobs.
She graduated with her bachelor degree from the University of Notre Dame (which is a pretty prestige's school) to getting her master degree from DeVry (which is a for-profit private college). Yikes!!! LOL!!
You can mock the political tilt of Devry (and there is much to mock) but the idea of self-study is both goal oriented and cost effective. I did the CFA program, and it was definitely worth it. I'd also say it paid a better return than moving to a university town to spend 22 months doing an expensive MBA.
If this gets her into someplace decent, she can get more experience and then do a more focused MBA. This is a prudent, reasonable approach.
There are runners who dope and ones who hop on any trend to sell things and bring attention to themselves. there are ones that want all the perks of being a pro without doing any of the work.
trolling molly, the most unlikely Olympic medalist for this is stupid and mean. She’s struggled with mental and physical health without oversharing and using those struggles for attention, she’s proven she’s worked for everything she’s gotten. I get so sick of letsrun criticizing anyone for any decision they make. So she went back to school. Who cares.
People say MBA is the bottom of the barrel masters degree, but not sure exactly why. Who can elaborate on this? Is the information learned pretty basic and not very groundbreaking? It's better than no masters degree though, I guess. But I've even heard people describe MBA programs are just cash grabs by universities that aren't worth it.
