Are they both going to UW or is Tostenson going to BYU? Either way, them both going to top 3 coaches/programs in the country is so exciting. At this rate, before LA 2028 there are gonna be multiple sub-3:30 Americans in the NCAA.
Crazy stuff. Unbelievable that American children are running 3:36 routinely now. Speaking for the coaches of LRC, it's a special delight to see the coach's son crushing it like this.
Tostenson is already 19, Kitchen will be 19 in August. So, they're older than your typical high schooler, no doubt. They are still awfully good. And I'd take a 3:36 college freshman on my team any day of the week. Their times are among the best U20 athletes we've ever had. Powell is obviously one of the great college recruits in the distances. 1:46.6/3:36 already and a very strong kicker. Andy Powell knows that with Tostenson and his son, UW has a lot more titles in store.
It’s gotta suck to be behind another runner by just a step in every distance throughout what anyone would consider a legendary season yourself
The saving grace is knowing that it could be worse, you could be 20 seconds slower. If you're only a step behind you could be a few steps ahead within one good block of training.
