No clue or no shame? The guy who has his athletes race 2-3 times a year, and who thinks nothing of pulling them out of a race on a few hours notice with no reason given, is upset that a meet got cancelled.

of course he's pissed. they just wasted a meet running 100/100h as their plan was to go 200/400 after that. good for them to know how people feel having their plans thrown off.
go make your own meet to get that 200/400 in.
it is awful, but these things happen in track, where neither event organizers or athletes respect the idea of professionalism, which involves showing up for a commitment.
I think there's a big difference between an athlete pulling out of a meet with illness or injury and an organizer cancelling a meet altogether.
Looking ahead, it will be interesting to see how Kersee and Sydney adjust their racing plans between now and the U.S. championships. The championships don't start for another 6.5 weeks, so I would think Sydney would still want to race at least one or two more times before then. The question is where/when?
In each of the last two years, Sydney's last tune-up race before the U.S. championships was the USATF Grand Prix meet in NYC. That's gone now, so what does she do? Pre doesn't have a women's 200m, 400m, or 400m hurdles race, so that's out. Maybe the 400m in Monaco on July 11?
He’s not the only coach that’s upset with the cancellation. He’s just the only one who’s not afraid to say it publicly.

If Brisco-Hooks is slightly prima donna-ish and admittedly impatient with training, Kersee, 31, could pass for a drill sergeant. He is also a licensed Baptist minister. An associate at St. Luke's Baptist Church in Long Beach, Kersee considers the athletes he coaches to be his real congregation. "In a sense they are my ministry," he says.
And he leaves no question as to who is in charge. After a recent interview in which Brisco-Hooks said she would never run the 800 and that her coach would not ask her to because "Bobby would get his feelings hurt," Brisco-Hooks found herself entered in a new event at a small meet at Cal State Poly-Pomona: the 800.
"And I'm supposed to call Track & Field News," Brisco-Hooks said, "and tell them that I do run the 800 when Bobby tells me to."
Shades of Athing running the 1500...
Why was the meet canceled? I honestly don't know. Broke or afraid of Trump protests or what?
I'm just disappointed we won't get to see SML head to head in the 400m against Paulino, Whittaker, and Nasser. 200m would be interesting too.
There are no protests anywhere near UCLA. Downtown is like 15 miles away which is about 45 min if not more with LA traffic

Surely they just ran out of money, and projected that the meet wouldn’t help them.

Sound Running has a women's 400 in their meet on July 12. It's at the same track that Athing Mu ran at a few weeks ago. Sydney can run there.
There's also a women's 800. Will we get a Sydney and Athing double?

Agreed. I wish someone would have surreptitiously recorded that emergency Zoom meeting Michael Johnson held with GST participants. It would have been so interesting to see how MJ explained the decision to them and how they reacted.
Sydney's appearance fees sent the league broke
Why was it canceled
i am pretty sure, Kersee spoke on SML's behalf. i imagine their must be some drama between SML and Michael Johnson now. It's pretty messed up he could not secure the four races with $30m. That is mis-management.

“The global economic landscape has shifted dramatically in the past year, and this business decision has been made to ensure our long-term stability as the world’s premier track league"

Sidney sure looks…harsh in that pic. Kersee needs to add some skin care products to his PED stacks.
Even Sydney is not a household name outside of Track Fans....I cannot tell you how often I spoke to guys in the gym who said they ran Track and the 400m and they would tell me they were good in HS and ran 57s. I tell them Sydney ran sub 51 over Hurdles and they thought Sydney was a dude.
How was Kersee's statement a lack of self-awareness? I thought he was referring to not just GST cancelling but NY, LA and Bermuda Grand Prix cancellations. That basically left no major American meets for anyone trying to get WA ranking points. You think Rai's running in Europe for a change just for a fun European trip?. Sure, Kersee's pulled his athletes at the last minute before but that didn't force anyone to cancel track meets because of it.
