He was one of the first college runners I knew about and followed. I would like to know if he’s headed off to run professionally or somewhere else after Stanford and the NCAA.
Might as well knock out a fast half or full and run Olympic marathon trials. I know there were rumors of OAC, wouldn't be a bad gig if they can get him for cheap. I think he could flourish under a coach like Mike Smith though, or train with Grant Fisher
I'd love for him to get a shot to run pro with a group like On for a year or something. I started following the sport right around the time he basically paced Nico to his 8:40 at Arcadia, and I remember when he was 15th at NCAA as a true frosh, and ran 13:26/27:42 as a redshirt freshman (#3 in the NCAA that year) and thought he was going to be a force in the coming years, rivaling Nico since they were progressing at similar paces.
But the highest NCAA XC finish was that 15th as a freshman, with the next highest being last year's 72nd, and his 5k/10k pbs come from his RS freshman year. He ran 7:42 3k pb this year, but didn't make NCAAs indoors or out. This after finishing 8th/5th in the 3k/5k and 9th/4th in the 5k/10k as a RS frosh. It's a shame he doesn't have more to show for how good he is. He was a top 10 threat his junior XC season, was 4th at regionals, but got hurt and finished 95th at nationals.
Use his free Stanford degree to have a great life, maybe run competitively a bit more if he feels like it
Looks like he feels like it.
Former ON NIL deal but now with Nike, currently training with ex-Stanford teammate Charles Hicks, but not clear if Cole has actually signed a Swoosh TC contract:

Yes on the 3000 pb, yes on not making NCAA Indoors, but no on the last assertion.
Cole finished 12th in the NCAA outdoor 10,000 -- and was quite happy with the result after having a lackluster final college spring season.
Now sporting Nike gear but unclear if he has a contract with the company.
In any case, Cole has been training recently with old buddy Charles Hicks, suggesting a road racing career is in the offing.

Hick’s has flamed out as a post college runner and no wonder running for Jerry and the group no one wants to run for. Honestly Sprout might have no other choices right now

Posted in a Nike outfit citing PNW, I’m betting bowerman.

Other suggestions are okay, but really, train with grant fisher? So he can pace him for 400m of his 1k repeats?

Would running on the roads pay the bills for him? In no universe, is he training with Grant Fisher.
