Update: Grand Slam Track LA Cancelled

I think They are waiting until Next Week as they will ask all The NCAA Champions if they would like to compete June 27-29 in Los Angeles in Grand Slam Track (Just ny opinion, I have no knowledge of it, just seems like a No Brainer Invite NCAA Champions who are Young and Hungry to compete against Top Pro's) Not sure how that would affect NCAA Eligibility Though.

Where did you hear it from? Seems at least plausible with the riots and ICE presence in the city. Would suck for a foreign racer to get deported or something.

Riots will be over in 2 Weeks, and they are only going after criminals, They are not looking for Athletes who just came to the USA to compete.

The "riots" are in a tiny area of the city. It's not like LA is on fire. You see more disruption in an average European city whenever a football match is taking place

RED TAPE. GST couldn't get permitted by LA County. By law they have to use local timing firms, local union stage workers, local TV cameramen, SEIU local janitors. They are paid so much there's no money left for prizes. FIFA has the same problem for 2026 World Cup So Fi and is eating the loss to be on LA TV.

Charity meets according to the 1978 Stevens Sports Act are for areas outside TV industry zones. Union mandates apply to South Manhattan and L.A. County.

This league was seemingly greenlit by someone with no business experience and who has never followed track or the lifecycle of other minor sports’ attempts to move to the big stage. I’m surprised it made it this long, honestly.

Move it to Eugene. Their protests are weak.

I think if it's true the LA riots may just be a convenient excuse. They already were hemorrhaging money and saved $500k by cancelling the 5k.
