The way he easily controlled the race while Powell was straining down that stretch was unreal. Coop can run 1:45 for sure. Socarras bounces back well from the mile earlier this week.
Reminds me more of Jim Ryun than any other HS runner I've ever seen.
I thought the same even before the race - the way he walked withthe others toward the start, he move a lot likr Ryun, it was almost eerie.
Cooper’s stretch run was amazing, you could see he was just trying to make sure he stayed ahead for the win. Props to Powell for breaking 1:47, I didn’t think he was quite fast enough to go 1:46 high but he went after it from the start, along with another fast race from Socarras proving he’s no flash in the pan.
I kept on waiting for the signature moment of his where he suddenly drops into mach 8 the moment he enters the final 200, but he kept on looking around, just securing the win; fine by me.
