He has broken 4 indoors and ran sub 8:40 as a junior. He came down with mono during the cross country season but has bounced back nicely.
TJ Hansen Freeland(MI) 3:59
Was able to beat Coombs at Runninglane to become Michigan's 3rd sub 4 HS miler. The NXN runner up will be in contention for the win.
Corbin Coombs Organ Mountain(NM) 3:59
The sub 4 miler from NM was able to beat NXN champ Vause at the NM state meet during the cross country season.
Tayvon Kitchen Crater(OR) 3:59
This year there are 2 teammates who have both broken 4. Kitchen has the slower mile but an 8:33 3200 certainly puts him in contention if the race is fast enough.
Tommy Latham Marist(GA) 3:59
The senior from GA will be hoping to better his PR and bounce back from his dq at his state meet.
Quentin Nauman Dubuque(IA) 4:00
The junior from IA will be looking to become just the 4th American HS junior to break 4 after running a 3:59 1600 at the Iowa state meet 2 weeks ago.
Caden Leonard Southlake Carroll(TX) 4:02
The junior from Texas will be looking to become Justin Leonard's 2nd sub 4 miler and the 2nd team to train 2 sub-4 milers(behind Crater).
Philip Blum Riverside-Durham(NC) 4:03
The senior from NC finished 4th at Running lane and is hoping to bring it all together to become North Carolina's first sub 4 HS miler.
Mathew Shelly Bentonville(AR) 4:04
Shelly has been making waves on the national scene with a 5th place finish at Runninglane. The senior from Arkansas finished 40th at Footlocker nationals in the fall.
Brian Burns Bentonville(AR) 4:04 The junior and brother of sub 4 miler Connor Burns will be hoping to continue his brothers legacy by breaking 4 this year. A sixth place at Runninglane shows he has adjusted to the move from Missouri well.
Jack Anstrom Seaforth(NC) 4:04
The second senior in the hunt for sub 4 this year. Anstrom comfortably won the 1600 and 3200 at his state meet and followed that up with a 7th place at Runninglane.
Charlie Vause Rio Rancho(NM) 4:05
The NXN champ is hoping to break 4 after finishing 2nd at his state meet in the 800, 1600, AND 3200(ouch) to sub 4 miler Coombs.
Jackson Spencer Herriman(UT) 4:08
The junior from Herriman will be looking to become Doug Soles's first sub 4 runner. He will also be the first from Utah which is long overdue considering how good the state is.
Joseph Socarras Belen Jesuit(FL) 4:10
The 1:47 800 runner from Florida will be hoping to make a jump in the mile tonight. If the race ends up slow you can't ignore the senior who will be hoping to show his blistering kick(hopefully running through the line as well).
Benjamin Anderson Mountain Vista(CO) 4:13
The top senior in Dalby's final graduating class for MV is looking to make his final year one to remember. A sixth place at the Arcadia 3200 only behind 5 guys who had already broken 4 sets him up well here at his 2nd very competitive race(or race at sea level).
These times are just off of PRs and not adjusted for altitude. I might do this for the girls if I find time in the next couple hours(Spoiler: Jane is going to run fast).

6th grader Isla Rahmer wins Jr. High race in 4:55.23
she is quite tall for a 6th grader. Impressive stride.
Some great races coming up! Weather looks decent. 70 degrees, a bit humid, no wind, lots of cloud cover. Jane should tear it up, boys may be a bit more tactical. I'd be surprised if more than one boy broke 4.

There is the pacer and then hopefully Kitchen or some other strength runners pushed the pace.
Not sure I get this. It’s a meet where kids come to run fast, like a modest Midwest Arcadia for the mile. With 4:09 winning what’s effectively the local ‘C’ heat, I am expecting multiple sub-4s in the “championship” race.

Shoot, the second heat might see multiple.
7 kids at 4:02/4:03 in a HS ‘B’ heat is actually crazy
