He got destroyed in the 15, then stuck it to a bunch of Wisconsin guys over 5k, running out into lane 2/3 and waving his arms around. Dude needs some serious humility.
Yeah, truly disgusting! He waved to his home crowd down the stretch.
Honestly, I think he should be banned from the sport! Imagine celebrating a conference championship win! I wouldn't necessarily push for prison time, but he should at the very least be banished to a remote island for a couple of years until he learns his lesson. I mean think of all of the Wisconsin fans out there who were minorly annoyed by his antics! Not to mention the impressionable kids who might think it's ok to celebrate winning a championship race!

I just called the ICE hotline to request his deportation to French Polynesia. Usually I only call when the construction workers next door are playing “Jarabe Tapatio” 3 decibels over the HOA’s allowable limit, but this offensive display required drastic measures to ensure the running community remains safe from this threat prior to NCAA Regionals.
All Simeon did was try to get the crowd hyped. If he were some flea bitten foreign athlete all the whiners would be rejoicing over his love of the sport.

Strong run by Birnbaum. He didn't need to do that because the race spoke for itself, but the real crime is wearing those glasses. Those sunglasses are awful. And why does Oregon have mismatched yellow tops? That is some kind of JV look right there. Did they forget to send Nike their pantone?
This celebration was directed at the crowd, not his competitors, right? This seems clear to me given the context of the environment. Home crowd loud as hell. One moment away from finessing a conference championship in his weaker track event while icing the team title. Electric. I would get excited too.
Also, I don't see why anyone should be "disqualified" for a celebration like this. I get that this post is hyperbole, but still. You could argue that he should wait until the finish, and that celebrating early in this sport is always a risk. I agree with that sentiment, but there also seems to be a double standard. If an athlete celebrates early and loses, it's to no one's expense but their own, but when they win, everyone says their competitors should be hurt by their actions. So which is it? Seems like a lose-lose situation for someone just taking a small risk to hype up his crowd and enjoy the moment. I don't think there's any other sport where hyping up the crowd leads to a DQ/ejection, so why are we calling for it here?
I hope we can prevent the sprintification of the distances. We don’t want that taunting and antics of sprinters bleeding over into the wonderful world of long distance
