At the CAA championships, a Monmouth University runner VIOLENTLY shoved down a Northeastern University runner. He was rightfully DQ'd but there was nothing the Northeastern runner could do to get another opportunity to score.
In my opinion, the Monmouth runner should have been prohibited from running anything else. They still let him run the 5k later on, which is wrong. That behavior would have been an ejection in any other sport.
Not the most violent. The DQ from I believe Nike Outdoor Nationals a few years ago was much worse. The two runners were shoving each other on the curve and then one just threw the other one off the track. I can't find the video, however.

He put both hands on the guys shoulder, from behind, and aggressively pulled him backwards and down to the ground while running at sub 60 second 400 pace.
The was the dirtiest attempt to pass on the inside I've seen. If this was a soccer defender taking down someone with a clear path to the goal from behind, it would 100% be a red card + ejection. I would be ok with this athlete being prohibited from racing the 5000m.
Was anyone there? Was there a confrontation after the race? I'm sure the Northeastern teammates were probably furious and made a lot of noise about it.

This may be the worst analogy I've seen on the board which is saying something.
That was pretty violent and blatant. He outweighs the guy he shoved by 30ish pounds and looks pretty damn strong. UFC middleweights can absolutely ragdoll UFC lightweights with minimal effort. Size matters.
Make the video full screen, pause it, and then slowly drag through it frame by frame. He shoved him lightly at 4 seconds with his left arm. He then shoves him off balance at 6 seconds with his left arm before shoving him hard with his right arm while the victim is already staggering. That was a nasty landing. The dude could easily have injured his shoulder, knee, or ankle.

The Monmouth athlete DID DENY the Northeastern athlete of a genuine scoring chance. The kid was second in when he was thrown to the track with 100m to go - that would be 8 points, maybe more if he caught the leader.
It was an egregiously violent act that ALSO unfairly denied the opponent a scoring opportunity. Both warrant a DQ and full expulsion from the competition.

dawg if you have to say a track push wasn't violent and have to bring up football, the push was probably too violent. That's like saying that girl a few months ago that smashed the baton into that other girl's head doesn't even pass for violent, because in hockey you can slash someone with your stick and it's barely even a penalty.
