I wonder how he will fair at USAs. He's going to have a lot of competition in the 5k with Fisher, Hocker doubling back, Cooper Teare running well, Nur, Dylan Jacobs, Yared possibly doubling, and others. I wonder if he'll just run the 10k. He can't beat Grant, but I don't think anyone else is a clear favorite ahead of him. Nico and Blanks are pretty much the same and Woody has fallen off of planet earth, so I doubt he'll be a factor.
It's a solid workout for him, but it isn't anything earth shattering as far as his PRs are concerned. He's broken 13 and 26. The 8:16 two mile is basically his 5k pace, and then the full rest followed by the 4 flat mile is faster than race pace but is certainly within his wheelhouse. With the full rest between intervals, this workout basically indicates he is either right at his 5k PR or at best a second or two faster.
wow. I don't believe Joe Klecker could even pull off a workout of this magnitutde.
Remember when an 8:16 for 2 miles was still a really impressive race result? Or at least respectable..
It would have a been a world best in the mid-90s. Super shoes or not I have my doubts about this workout.
Gerry Lindgren beat this workout by a mile during the leadup to the Tokyo Games. If he hadn't stepped in a hole right before the Olympics, he would have lapped the field.

jeez i totally forgot he broke 27, I need to get more hyped for him. Has he finished school yet? He's not as good as Nico Young (arguably, as Nico Young doesn't have 2 individual XC titles), but training at sea level at a school with the academic rigor of Harvard is undoubtedly a worse training environment than NAU at 7000'. Not to mention the difference in coaching/training partners. Plus he was injured for a lot of last year, and despite 5th at NCAAs and 4th at OTs, he managed 9th at the Olympics. He's in better shape now than he was then, and it's only May. Gonna be scary to see what he's capable of after a year or two of altitude training as a professional.
