why are so many of them just so utterly incompetent?
about fifteen times so far this year, i'd see a meet where my son or daughter is competing, and i'd go to the website, get the meet info. okay, entries due tuesday at noon or whatever. great.
how hard is it for these schools/timers to upload a meet schedule? or post entries? it takes them four days to do that? why? what is so hard here?
this happens in 95% of meets. maaaaybe 5% of meets will have it up by friday.

Because meet entry is usually done by hand to save money as places like Milesplit and Athletic.net want recurrent bill processes for their inferior digitized versions.
The track & field and cross county realms of statistics is sort of like a mirrored reflection of reality. Whereas the next phase of the statistical capture should be contiguous / continuous with the reality not merely representing a reflection of it.
Example Athlete Roster Name dragged into a Meet Event (the 1600) should auto populate the live heat sheets of the meet and can instantaneously be seen on a tablet held by referees and clerks.
Milesplit nor athletic nor tfrrs offers the live reality, merely a reflection.

Couple things:
1) After entries are due, it's usually the school's head coach that reviews the entries, usually in conjunction with either the ops director or the meet director, particularly when it comes to marks. We all know that coaches will lie about marks on behalf of their athletes, even with TFRRS, World Athletics, Athletic. net lists, etc.
2) When heat and lane draws are assigned by the HyTek program based on seed marks, coaches will complain about it, even with the seeding rules programmed. I've known coaches who host meets who will move their own athletes into a more favorable lane at the expense of another despite the rules already programmed into the computer.
3) There will always be the case of athletes not getting entered properly, either by oversight of meet management, the timing company not getting the information, or the teams not getting their entries in properly.
In sum, too many factors are involved, and I don't think LR message board readers have the time/patience to read it.

Exactly. That hot garbage word salad made no sense.
