Rojo made the mistake of not checking ot see if there was already a thread on this. There was. So we merged the two threads and kept Rojo's title. The first title was "Steven Gardiner replaces Quincy Hall as a GST Racer"
I know he just signed up for Rome DL in June. Anywhere else? Anyone know what's going on here?
He missed the first race with injury. Does he just not want to double because of that? Does he realize he can make good money on the DL circuit as the Olympic champ?
Jonathan Gault messaged Kyle Merber and he said they mutually parted ways.

I didn't put my name on it. He still gets credit for starting the thread. I put my title on it as my title reflects the important development here.
The original title is focused on Gardiner. Big picture wise, that's not a big deal. Most people don't click on the thread. Those people would likely just assume Gardiner replaced Hall due to injury no big deal. My title reflects the big news - an oriignal racer is out and doing DLs. instead. I want people who aren't reading the thread (the vast majority of people to know he's healthy enough to race DLs.
Why is this important to discuss?
We were told GST was different as the contracts would bind the racers to the series and we'd know where people were racing and when. People couldn't just beg out due to minor injuries.
Hall leaving while not injured is the story - not Gardiner replacing.
A TOP sprint agent told me his client didn't do GST simply because the format (doubling) wasn't appealing to him.

I respectfully disagree. Steven Gardiner is a big name. He’s an Olympic and World Champion. His addition to GST as a Racer is every bit as much of the story as Quincy Hall’s departure.
Noah’s title appropriately had both names that are relevant to the story. Your replacement title omits Gardiner’s name, which is a disservice to someone with his credentials.

Totally agree!
I'll make a bold prediction, this will be the first of many dominoes to start falling here. Because what's going to happen now is that other athletes, now starting to actually understand the commitment of this venture, will point to Hall and how he was just able to walk away and will start wanting to do to same. Way to protect the integrity of your league guys.

I don't have a big problem with the combined thread, and think the Rojo/Gault additional news is important. I wasn't privy to it. I do think Gardiner as an all-time great when healthy probably should remain as part of the thread. As much as this is a blow to GST seemingly having an athlete dump them for DL singling etc., it's a boon to get Gardiner and also a good sign that he's finally healthy.

The rigidness of these athletes is ridiculous. So a professional runner can’t run a 400 one day then a 200 the next? And get paid a ridiculous amount of money to do it? They cry about opportunities to make more money, then are given the opportunity then make some excuse because they might have to perform for the money they demand.
I was surprised he even signed in the first place after his Olympic injury. Guy has always been injury prone. Rai literally discussed how he told Quincy to take care of his body so that they could take down the 4x400 WR in Tokyo.
That said, Awesome to see Gardiner sign on instead. Guy is an all-time talent who would be the WR holder and multi time world/Olympic champ if he could stay healthy. That 19.75 he ran is still insane to me. He was on the most recent track all access and he looked GOOD.

Grand Slam Track lost countless runners who would have considered it, other than the doubling. That's a big picture certainty.
Not a good look for Merber or the league not to make a preemptive announcement on Hall's departure. It looks a lot worse to say nothing and allow speculative threads like this to show up.

Is Hall crying? It seems like he don't want to risk injuries running in front of empty stands, the only lasting thing is the money if they don't spend it, rather run in stadiums full of people, televised to millions. I am sure his sponsors agree with that.

Yeah, I was surprised he signed up in the first place. His body seems to breakdown a lot, he needs to manage his season more than most.

Diamond League is threatened by GST. Shanghai likely offered Qunicy Hall more money to compete in their meet. China is a large market for track and field with potential sponsorship opportunities (non-shoe companies). If I were in Quincy's position I would want to go to China to make new contacts.
